I hope these links will help anyone looking to leave a bad situation or for ways to improve their situation.
Housing
There are many Harbor Houses across the country. Each with their own websites. The best way for you to find one is to google Harbor House, Harbor House Domestic Violence Center, or Harbor House plus your state.

Food Assistance
Food Pantries – Find food pantries, soup kitchens, food shelves, food banks, and more
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Locator – Also known as Food Stamps
Women’s Infants and Children (WIC) Locator – This link also allows you to search by state other food assistance programs such as school lunch programs and more. Many States offer summer food programs for school aged kids 18 years and younger.

Legal Aid Locator – Legal Aid is meant for civil cases
Child Custody and Visitation Information by State – This could be helpful if leaving a relationship where kids are involved. Know what your rights are as a parent and know what constitutes standard visitation requirements. Learn how to get a modification to visitation, and more. This could be a great resource for learning what the laws are in your state to help protect your kids as best you can from an abusive parent.

You can use the American Bar Association to find your State Bar Association. This link takes you to the Find a Lawyer page on your State Bar Association website, and there is also lot of other resources to be found there as well. For instance under “For The Public” there are links to such things as: what to do if you have a problem with a lawyer, filing a grievance, a list of resources for if you can’t afford a lawyer, list of affordable legal services, free legal resources, and more. You can also find under the “Do You Need A Lawyer” link and others, a link to the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). This service pairs you up with a lawyer who will give you a 30 minute consultation for $20.

Counseling
It’s important when choosing a counselor to read up on who you are seeing to make sure they are a good match for you. There are many different types of therapy styles. Click here to read up on the different types of therapy styles to see which style you think would fit you best. Psychology Today is a great website for finding local counselors. They provide information for each counselor as to what therapy styles they use, what conditions they treat, any areas they may specialize in, and list what insurance companies they accept as well as their hourly rates.
